The new residential complex is located in Venzone, a town in northern Italy that was destroyed by the earthquake in 1976. After the earthquake, locals began to rebuild the town using the debris, and a great example of this technique can be seen on the Dome, which was rebuilt by anastylosis. Our project starts from the analysis of the surrounding buildings and of the urban structure of the town and tries to tie the new building to the old characters of the place, by using a language that is close to that of the general architecture of Venzone. By analysing the exhisting buildings we found some recurring elements like the vestibule that from the road leads to the courtyard, the external stairs and galleries that lead to the apartments.

The new building is devided in two parts by a seismic joint: the first block at north is public and presents a loggia that recalls the arcs of the former masonry townhall and the new townhall and hosts a cafe and some public spaces; the second block is private and it contains the apartments. There are two courtyards: one is public and the other is private and delimited by a wall. To enter the residential block one must go through the vestibule where there are the stairs that lead to the upper floor, and an outside gallery serves the apartments. There are three simplex apartments and two duplex apartments. The height of the roofs are alternated and there are two terraces on the second floor.
